We have spent much time in the insurance inspection industry and know too well the differences in reports methods being submitted by inspection companies throughout the industry. Some are hand written, one page, two pages or typed up and more detailed. Some to the reports have some of the inspection information required while some so not. Not all have everything you need! |
| |
|
The standardization or lack there of is now a concern for many insurance carriers, as they are starting to correlate the inspections submitted with the insurance claims being made. The end result is that there is no comparison! What they are finding is that water intrusion claims could have been prevented if the inspector or the inspection report was properly conducted or provided.
We have two underwriting directors confirm that the existing requirement of Four Point Inspections and the submitted reports are worthless. The reports analyzed say nothing about the homes inspected and do not identify the Four Point conditions they were led to believe it did!

"We have one report that stated that the electrical was updated, but the fact it was not. The panel was, but the part that caused the fire, the wiring was ORIGINAL, We have a report that stated the HVAC was updated, but not the part relating to the claim, the section in the attic with no overflow protection!.."

"…I get so many reports, all different, some handwritten, some letters, some with photographs, some without, …. I don’t know if I am coming or going!…"
